The Association created this award to honor its namesake for his pioneering work in demonstrating floodproofing as a viable flood loss reduction measure and for his decades of work in promoting and advancing the knowledge of these measures.
The National Czech and Slovak Museum, Cedar Rapids, IA suffered multiple days of riverine flood water. The project relocated and placed the original building onto a new elevated concrete foundation.
